SECOND LIFE – A MEMORIAL TO UKRAINIAN RESCUERS

Second Life is a memorial to the rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS), who continue to save lives amid Russia’s war against Ukraine. The Gobi is reconstructed using repurposed automotive airbags, a material originally engineered to protect human life, preserving their technical markings, seams and traces of previous use. Together with an integrated backpack and DSNS symbols, the jacket becomes a functional object of remembrance, connecting protection, rescue and the idea of giving materials a second life.
Pilsok ( @pilsok ) is an independent Ukrainian brand based in Kyiv, founded by Dmytro Isaienko. Working from its Kyiv workshop, the team explores the intersection of functional design, experimentation and the reuse of technical materials. Automotive airbags are central to its practice, transformed into bags, backpacks, clothing and experimental objects. Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Pilsok has also been actively involved in fundraising, humanitarian initiatives and support for the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
