PARAJUMPERS POLICY

FUR POLICIES

Parajumpers supports social responsibility and sustainability in the clothing sector. We believe in providing transparent information on the use of animal products in our garments. Our use of fur is the result of careful research into traceability, sustainability and international standards.

FINNRACCOON

Finland is one of the world's leading fur producing countries. In Finland, the breeding of fur animals has been part of the agricultural tradition for centuries, and helps to sustain rural populations.  The Finraccoon fur used by PARAJUMPERS as a technical complement to some of the classic models, comes exclusively from Saga Furs farms in Finland. Saga Furs produces only certified furs that meet strict standards of management, health and animal welfare. The standards adopted are much stricter than those required by law.  Saga Furs certification is developed with the Finnish Fur Breeders' Association and includes the WelFur protocol which is a further scientific evaluation of animal welfare. Saga Furs works with the entire fashion industry to provide fur from sustainable, ethical and controlled farms that meet the high standards of today's consumers.

COYOTE

Canada is blessed with an abundance of natural resources including many species of wildlife. Over 65,000 people are involved in the Canadian fur trade, including some 60,000 First Nations and non-native trappers. These people and their families rely on animals for both food and income. Above all, they respect nature and want the animals to be there for their children, their grandchildren and for many more generations to come. Trapping is highly regulated in Canada to ensure long-term conservation of furbearer populations. Canadian trappers also use methods that meet the highest animal welfare standards in the world, and that must be approved by The Canadian Trap Certification Protocol. Since the early 1900s, government regulations have ensured that trappers take only part of the surplus that nature produces each year. Endangered species are never used. The continued abundance of North American furbearers shows the care and commitment of trappers, conservation groups and government wildlife agencies. Our coyote furs are supplied by two different companies – Hilton Fur and Rebellato –, both following strict rules and providing traceability. Both companies provide fur from farms – for example, through Saga Furs – and from wild animals through farms with certified hunters, which are supported by forest rangers to ensure that the laws are respected.

RABBIT AND SHEEP

The rabbit fur used by PARAJUMPERS comes from the food industry. Our sheep fur products do not come from animals protected by CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora), but from sheep that are reared in flocks. Furthermore, the skins are not tanned with whale oil or other cetacean oils.

DOWN POLICY

The down inside our jackets is either 90/10 or 100% duck down originating from both Asian and European countries. We, at Parajumpers, feel very strongly about animal welfare and, therefore, require that all our down suppliers provide proof that their material is exclusively a by-product of the food industry and that the animals are not plucked alive. Not only do we request signed declarations stating this from the suppliers themselves, we also require that their down be certified by an accredited third-party certification body, such as IDFL (International Down and Feather Testing Laboratory) or EDFA (European Down and Feather Association).
