A paean to 20 years of fearless design, the editorial tells the story of a day testing, exploring and challenging the potential of the city. Infusing the project is a spirit of curiosity, a bid to fully understand the environment we inhabit: a philosophy of discovery that Parajumpers has stood by since its inception.
At the heart of the project is the iconic Gobi jacket. One of the original Parajumpers pieces, it's a generational classic, loved for two decades. But its high-performance bonafides aren't only suitable for the great outdoors. Here, its rugged form is set against the smooth concrete of the urban space, a reinterpretation that casts it in a thoroughly new light.
"The city was never waiting. It doesn't consult. It doesn't request permission from the people who think they're steering it. Not a canvas. It never was." What do we uncover, then, if we treat the city as a site of inquiry, rather than a place of monotonous routine? As a journey to embark on, rather than an end in itself?
Slowly but surely, the urban space becomes a site of discovery, a place ripe for exploration. The textures of brick, concrete, metal. The smell of asphalt in the rain, under the sun: through engaging with the city, we begin to see all that we missed before. A space that reveals the more you look; a site of unexpected encounters.
If we look hard enough, we discover the command at the heart of the project: "Never let a corner go unturned twice the same way. Never let curiosity harden into a route. The people worth finding are the ones still looking too hard to have settled on an answer. Some nights, if you're paying the kind of attention that costs you something, it was building you a way home."
Emphasised throughout the editorial are moments of quiet connection with our surroundings, a silent dialogue between our interior and exterior worlds.
