5 Top Destinations: Skiing in the United States and Canada
2015-03-05 15:38:01

North America is full of incredible and magical places to ski and spend one of the most longed-for vacations of the year: the Spring Break.

Whether it’s miles of perfectly groomed slopes, abundant and untouched off-piste powder, Heli Ski adventures or again fine dining and extravagant nightlife, North America has options for everyone and all you have to do is choose your own type of vacation..

The vast, uncontaminated territories give birth to some of the most amazing natural sceneries: here below our selection of the dream ski resorts in the US and Canada.

 jks hole

1_Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Close to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and housing the National Elk Refuge, Jackson Hole is so much more than a skiing spot.

On top of the very well-known 2500 acres of land perfect for skiing and riding, which tourists as well as locals have been enjoying for over 75 years, the city offers more than 31 concerts in the month of March: more than one per day.

We see why they called it “March Radness”…

2_Lake Tahoe, California:

The breathtaking landscape is what makes Lake Tahoe one of the most renowned and esteemed skiing spots: the largest Alpine lake in North America, its ski resorts were first noticed and appreciated in the early 60s, soon making Lake Tahoe one of the largest concentrations of ski resortsin the world.

whistler

3_Whistler, British Columbia – Canada

Probably the most popular skiing destination in the continent, it is a powder paradise, with over 460 inches of snow falling on an annual base.

Although it's the biggest ski resort in North America, Whistler BlackComb is nothing compared to its Heli Skiing terrain, which is almost 60 times larger! A real paradise, if you consider you don’t have to share it with more than an average of 50 skiers or boarders per day.

vail

4_ Vail, Colorado

The great variety of terrains you can find in Vail, Colorado, is enough to satisfy every type of skier and snowboarder, and the great number of visitors per year says it out loud! For the most expert skiers, the Back Bowls are just the greatest experience as well as a good way to get away from the masses.

Away from the slopes, the city has pretty much something for everyone. From the best après skis in the country, to extremely fine dining and shopping in the walkable city center: Vail is the quintessential world class ski resort that many others try to imitate.

 snowbird

5_Snowbird, Utah

Tucked in Little Cottonwood Canyon in Utah’s Wasatch Natural Forest, Snowbird and its sister resort Alta (which shares a lift ticket) have long seasons and tons of snow. Not famous for being beginners-friendly, Snowbird can offer some of the most memorable skiing that experts can wish for.

Snowbird was founded by Ted Johnson, who created a resort that could complement and respect the natural surroundings of the Wasatch range.
